Antony Cameron’s journey to become a certified meditation teacher was sparked by a profound personal transformation. Having experienced firsthand the incredible benefits of a dedicated meditation practice, he felt compelled to pay it forward and help others cultivate their own sense of calm and clarity.
Supporting Young Adults Through Meditation
Now, as a newly graduated meditation teacher, Antony is passionate about supporting individuals in their 20’s who are navigating the complexities of adulthood. From study and work stress to relationships, finances, and life transitions, young adulthood comes with a host of challenges that can feel overwhelming. Antony believes that meditation, paired with introspection through journaling, can provide a powerful anchor to help individuals develop emotional resilience and equanimity.
Launching Cura & Me Meditation
With this passion in mind, Antony has recently launched his own meditation business, Cura & Me Meditation. Inspired by the Latin word for care (cura), the name reflects the deeply personal and unique nature of self-care. While his offerings are still taking shape, Antony envisions a future where he provides one-on-one and group meditation sessions via Zoom, uploads recordings to Insight Timer, and hosts live group sessions for his colleagues at his full-time job. Looking ahead, he is excited about the possibilities of expanding his offerings to local gyms, universities, corporate settings, and perhaps YouTube or a podcast.
Growing a Meditation Business
To support the growth of Cura & Me Meditation, Antony primarily focuses on Instagram marketing. “Sticking with one platform is easier to manage; I use Canva Pro to curate my content for Instagram,” he shares. While he is not currently collaborating with any other students or organizations, he remains open to opportunities in the future.
Journey into Becoming a Certified Meditation Teacher
“The choice to study with ACMM was a no-brainer,” Antony shares. “The reviews were excellent, and the depth and quality of the offerings made the course something I couldn’t turn down!”
One of the aspects Antony most enjoyed about the course was its structure and delivery. “The course is delivered in such an elegant manner. Each session builds from the next, you are given countless opportunities to refine your craft as a teacher. The content covered extends to all other aspects of your life, allowing you to grow both as a teacher and as a person,” he reflects.
“Everything about meditation teaching applies to your relationships with others. Since everyone experiences meditation differently, it is important to continuously assess whether your teaching style is meeting their unique needs. To achieve this, you need to become more deeply in tune with who they are, as well as their unique strengths, struggles, and goals.”
Future Plans and Further Study
Antony is also looking ahead to furthering his studies. “I would like to pursue the Advanced Certificate in the next 1-2 years. “I am particularly interested in the Corporate Meditation and Mindfulness elective, as well as the elective on Meditation Workshops and Classes.”
Using Meditation as a Certified Teacher to Support Emotional Well-being
On a personal level, becoming a certified meditation teacher has provided Antony with a safe space to process and support his emotions. As someone who thinks and feels deeply, his daily meditation and journaling practice—cultivated during his time with ACMM—has allowed him to embrace solitude as an opportunity for self-care.
“Regularly asking myself ‘What do I need in this moment?’ has often yielded powerful results,” he reflects. “The course has taught me how to meet my own emotional needs—a fundamental life skill that everyone should learn.”
Business Insights and Lessons Learned
Antony has also found inspiration from Million Dollar Weekend by Noah Kagan (with Tahl Raz). “The book is an extremely practical guide to entrepreneurship and launching a new business. It is hands-down the best book on entrepreneurship out there. It gives you a detailed process to follow that can be implemented for any business. I can’t recommend it enough!”
Three key insights that have helped Antony develop his business include:
- Find your “Dream Ten” – i.e., 10 potential clients that may be interested in your business/services. If 3 people would pay for your services, then you have a business!
- Find an accountability buddy – Someone who will hold you accountable for your productivity. For Antony, his brother plays this role, but he also finds motivation in the many people he has shared his meditation business plans with!
- Never stop asking – Many fears around new business ventures revolve around dealing with rejection and failure. Antony approaches his meditation business as a continuous process of ideation and validation. “There will be numerous setbacks and pivot points, but this is where you lean into your inner protector to guide you. Keep asking for feedback, and commit to rejection, as it will serve you well. Be patient and trust the process.”
Final Words of Encouragement
All in all, Antony encourages others to stay connected to their purpose. “Know that you are doing this for a reason. Visualize running a class, bringing joy to others, and helping them find more peace in their lives. When faced with a setback, go back to this image and reconnect with your ‘why.’”
Similarly, in personal interactions, Antony believes the same principles apply. “To build meaningful relationships, you need to acknowledge that everyone experiences the world in their own unique way; once you honour this, you can leverage your sense of curiosity to form connections that are incredibly authentic.”
“In summary, learning to teach meditation is not purely about the meditation itself; it’s about investigating how you can expand your emotional intelligence (EQ) to first meet your own needs, then expanding these insights to support others, using your heart as a guide.”
