Hi Bindy! Tell us a little bit about yourself

Bindy guiding a sound meditation at a recent event

I am very blessed to live in the beautiful town of Anglesea, on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, with my awesome, supportive husband, fabulously fun 11 year old daughter and fur baby kitty Jo. My passions are music, (playing and listening to it as well as lots of goofy dancing with my daughter), beach and rainforest walks, and of course healing or helping others on their own individual path.

I am a qualified Chef, TAFE teacher and Nutritionist who has made the transition to becoming a Meditation Teacher. I hold workshops, women’s circles and chakra mediations. I am also a Sacred Cacao Facilitator, who also offers breathwork and vibrational healing. In addition to being a qualified meditation teacher, I am also a Pellowah Practitioner, Crystal Energy Facilitator, Sound Healer, Flower Essence Therapist – with plans to become a self -directed healer with Inspirited Solutions.

What attracted you to become a meditation teacher and study with ACMM?

Meditation has been my friend for so long, I can’t remember when I began, but it has always provided me with a sense of peace through difficult times as well as opens me up to receiving fabulous messages from the spirit world. In more recent years it has definitely helped me to keep my pain under control and sharpen both my awareness and focus for varying situations.

I decided to become a teacher when I could no longer be a chef due to physical injury. Meditation helped me through a phase of deep depression and grief, and I wanted to learn the tools to help other people. When I began researching courses, ACMM seemed to be the most legitimate and supportive college to do this. I loved the class outline and the various options for electives. I wanted to do them all!!!

What does your personal meditation practice look like? What styles or types of meditation do you enjoy?

For me, I often begin my day outside before the sun comes up. I enjoy listening to the change in shifts of the animals. The possums going to bed and then the birds beginning to wake. Sometimes this involves me going down to the beach in my PJ’s, and a blanket and greeting the sun as he rises over the water. It’s a way of connection, grounding and gratitude all at once.

I usually meditate at least 3 times throughout the day simply because it helps me in so many ways. My mediations are generally visualisation or waiting for messages/guidance.

Do you have your own meditation/mindfulness/holistic business, plans to start one?

The beautiful space that Bindy creates for her clients

My little business is called Divine Horizons. It is all about connection, compassion and clarity. I am currently running a mediation group here in Anglesea on a weekly basis.

I like to create altars for these classes and the crystals used are generally the driving energy or focus on what the mediation intention is. I like to provide a nurturing and safe space for people to experience and share whatever may arise for them, and there are always oracle cards laying around if they choose to read them before or after the class. I always provide guided meditations with occasional mindful practices they can do at home. My clients also receive a gentle Chakra alignment with a crystal bowl towards the end of the silent surrender, before grounding them and bringing their awareness back to here and now. A hot cuppa and biscuits or cake is always provided at the end of every class which helps my clients connect with each other and feel supported with like-minded souls.

I also run monthly Cacao and Sound Ceremonies, with differing themes or intentions based around personal connection, growth and healing. These can be quite powerful for people who are on a healing or empowering journey.

Sound is my favourite style of mediation. Not only does it alter your consciousness and free the busy mind, but it provides a space for deep healing to occur physically, spiritually and emotionally. My collection of instruments is slowly increasing and my style is ever evolving but I simply love the sounds and the power and energy that is found within them.

This year I am focusing on collaborating with other healing practitioners and light-workers through retreats and private functions as well as growing my presence at various spiritual festivals with sound meditations and one on one healings which I call Divine Healings. These Divine Healings involve a combination of sound, breathwork, energy healing, crystals and chakra alignment.

I am also very excited to be facilitating at the following events:

What would you say to someone thinking of becoming a meditation teacher?

DO IT! Don’t get caught up in fear from preventing you from following your path. All you have to do is begin. Sometimes we get stuck in overwhelming thoughts and allow those thoughts to steer our path. Becoming a mediation teacher will not only help your own wellbeing but will give you the tools to help others on their life journey as well. It can open so many doors in unpredictable ways. Why wouldn’t you want to spread the light and the love and infect the entire world?

When studying with ACMM I remember getting caught in the fear of running classes without a script, now I find if I use a script, it prevents me from being in the present and enjoying the experience with the group. Take the time you need and surrender to the process, it really is rewarding on so many levels.

What have you enjoyed about studying with ACMM?

The coaches are fabulous. I was so blessed to have Leanne as my main coach. She was nurturing, supportive and encouraging in every way. Whenever I thought I was struggling, she was there to help me through anything with compassion. She always put my mind at ease and got me back on track.

Not only is the course content filled with practical knowledge and skills, it follows through with everything they teach by providing beautiful staff who genuinely want to help you and care about your journey

I also loved working with a buddy during session 6. I found this to be an encouraging and fun experience and have gained a friend out of it too. Amelia and I were both able to bounce ideas and support each other through the course, which has also continued since. I am forever grateful for this fabulous connection.
