For Peta Barwick, meditation has been a lifelong companion. After more than two decades of personal practice, her journey has evolved into a heartfelt calling to guide others toward the same sense of balance, calm, and inner trust that meditation brought into her own life.
A Journey from Personal Practice to Purpose
“I had never had a teacher or attended a class,” Peta reflects. “Yet meditation changed my life.”
What began as a personal exploration grew naturally into something larger. Friends and family began asking her to share her practices, and Peta discovered how deeply she loved guiding others. Wanting to deepen her understanding and gain formal qualifications, she enrolled in the Certificate in Guiding and Teaching Meditation and Mindfulness with the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness (ACMM), under the mentorship of Tim James.
“The discipline to create time for myself has been a beautiful gift,” she says. “Now that I’m teaching and seeing others benefit, it feels incredibly fulfilling for all of us.”
Sharing Meditation in Community
Through her business, Innerfield, Peta shares meditation and mindfulness in diverse and grounded ways:
-
Public meditation sessions at the Noosa Aquatic Centre
-
Half-day retreats in collaboration with Alana Grace Counselling
-
Guest offerings at wellness retreats and events locally and interstate
She is currently co-creating a Wellness Morning Retreat in Noosa Heads, which will weave together yoga, creative writing, gratitude practice, and guided meditation.
“I hope to support anyone who is curious about learning a valuable life skill to support themselves through life,” she says. “Meditation truly is that.”
Inspired by Study and Connection
Peta appreciated the flexibility of ACMM’s study model, which allowed her to progress steadily while managing life’s many commitments. She also credits her coach and the electives—especially those exploring trauma-sensitive mindfulness—for shaping her grounded and compassionate approach to teaching.
Currently, Peta is completing her Advanced Certificate in Meditation and Mindfulness, continuing her commitment to lifelong learning.
A Philosophy of Presence
Peta’s teaching is informed by her belief that meditation offers both simplicity and depth.
“Gifting oneself a small amount of time each day for meditation and mindfulness can open insight and self-understanding that brings a deep, fulfilling level to life,” she says. “Meditation has made me my own best friend—a place I truly love residing in.”
On a physical level, she describes feeling calmer, less reactive, and more peaceful. On a deeper level, she has learned to live with authenticity and ease.
Building a Heart-Led Business
Through Innerfield, Peta combines mindfulness with community connection. She promotes her work through social media, Eventbrite, and local collaborations, and plans to expand into newsletters and online offerings as her community grows. Her approach is relational and personal—rooted in connection rather than marketing.
“Perseverance, being community-minded, and genuine passion have been the keys,” she shares. “I love connecting with people in the wellness field and finding ways to support each other.”
Looking Ahead
As her offerings continue to expand, Peta’s focus remains on presence, integrity, and service. Whether she’s guiding a small group in Noosa or collaborating with retreat facilitators in Tasmania, her mission is clear: to make meditation accessible, grounding, and deeply human.
