Highlighting Our Graduates: Tirrell Cherry

2 min read – Meet ACMM graduate, Tirrell.  A holistic wellness coach and meditation teacher based in Sydney. He loves empowering others so they can start living a life they love.

Tell us a little bit about yourself…

I’m a bit of a nomad, have lived in most major cities within the US and made my way over to Australia a year and a half ago. My first stop was Melbourne, and now I’m in Sydney. I’ve always loved working with people, interacting and talking, so it was normal that my first career would be as a hairstylist.

Eventually, I moved into fitness as a spin instructor for SoulCycle. It was during this time I found my voice with motivational speaking and began exploring how to offer a more spiritual, reflective side, in my classes.

I love talking about manifestation, music gives me life, as well as dance! I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world with my dog, Hilo, for the past decade.

What attracted you to become a meditation teacher and study with ACMM?

I wanted to deepen my practice and explore all the many sides of meditation. I knew all of the benefits of meditation, and have had a lot of success using it with manifesting. At the time I sought out teacher studies, I was going through a lot of emotional turbulence. I felt that if I were able to gain the right tools to help me through this time, then I would be able to assist others. It is important to me that I empower others with the tools I have learnt to help them understand their inner landscape and ever-changing emotions. The curriculum offered at ACMplus the electives really felt like the right program to help me with that.

How has meditation impacted you on a personal level?

I’ve become more aware of my emotions and patterns. The way I respond in relationships is changing. The needs I thought I needed to be met are not only changing, but I’m realizing that I can meet those needs myself. I have moments in meditation where I feel so good and grateful, for no other reason than just being in the moment or being able to feel really really good about a manifestation I’m working on. I have become less self-critical, more compassionate, and patient with myself and others. Meditation is bringing me closer to a version of myself I’ve wanted to meet. It seems I moving into a new career path because of meditation. So I’d say personally, it’s impacted my whole life in a such positive and transformative way.

What does your personal meditation practise look like? What styles or types of meditation do you enjoy?

I meditate daily, every morning, for 40 minutes. My routine typically involves sitting in silence. However, initially, I used guided meditations (will use them here and there when working on or through something specific). I love using binaural beats to sit with, as well as mantra meditations. I’ve started incorporating some breath work into my practice as well. Currently starting the “Presence Process” with 15 minutes of breathing and then I’ll sit in silence for 25 minutes.

Do you have your own business as a meditation teacher based in Sydney?

Yes!! I have a few offerings available for my clients. I specialise in helping people build their meditation practice, or at least introduce them to certain forms of meditation. This is usually the tool to help them with current issues or just to create a new healthy habit. I also offer breathwork sessions to clients and love weaving the two together in a session so that they can gain better clarity on trapped emotions but also have a way to integrate all the new information coming in.

Can you describe your audience?

I work with anyone wanting to create lasting positive change in their lives. Most of my clients are people who are finally at a point where they’re ready to put down some emotional baggage. They are all beautiful individuals who want to celebrate their lives. I encourage them to appreciate their struggle, and make sure that everyone is ready to do the work it takes to live a more fulfilled life.

Do you have any events, workshops or classes coming up in the next few months?

I have a few things in the works right now that I have to hold tight to my chest as I finalize everything. However, I encourage anyone reading this to find me on Instagram or Facebook, or hop on my mailing list through my website – there are a lot of new offerings that will be happening!

I do have a free guided visualization meditation for anyone wanting to tap into the feeling of having their manifestation. I love working with clients on the law of attraction and think this meditation is really helpful. Can be downloaded at https://mailchi.mp/7cd0ef80ff70/itsalreadyyours

What would you say to someone who is thinking about becoming a meditation teacher?

If you feel the call to do it then definitely explore that!! Meditation is so expansive. I’ve found a lot of joy in exploring my own practise, but also sharing it with others and hearing how it’s transformed their lives as well.

What have you enjoyed about studying with ACMM?

Meeting with my Coach every month was really great, but I also enjoyed creating mediations. I found that to be challenging but also such a beautiful process of having an outlet. Imagining, feeling, expressing with words, creating an atmosphere that is safe and inviting. LOVED IT
